Durham Alliance Outreach is grateful for the support of the pride & remembrance run, whose contribution helped strengthen community support for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Durham Region.

Supporting Practical and Mental Well-Being

The contribution supported two areas of DAO’s work: food security and calming-kit resources.

Food Support

At the time of this contribution, DAO operated the DAO Pantry. On August 6, 2026, that program transitioned to the DAO Market, building on the Pantry’s work with a more choice-based shopping model.

Community support helps DAO provide food and essential items to people and households experiencing food insecurity while maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.

Calming Kits

DAO’s Calming Kits provide practical tools and resources intended to support grounding, stress management, and emotional well-being.

Programs like these are one part of DAO’s broader approach to community support, alongside peer connection, education, food support, and welcoming community spaces.

Why Community Partnerships Matter

Support from organizations such as the pride & remembrance run helps community organizations respond to real needs while developing programs that are relevant to the people they serve.

These partnerships can provide financial resources, visibility, community connections, and opportunities to expand access to supports.

Thank You to the pride & remembrance run

DAO extends its sincere thanks to the pride & remembrance run and its community for supporting this work.

The impact of a community contribution extends beyond a single moment. It becomes part of the programs, resources, and relationships that organizations continue building over time.
