Faith Circle: An Affirming Spiritual Space at DAO

For many 2SLGBTQIA+ people, faith and spirituality can be meaningful parts of life, but finding a space where identity and spirituality are both welcomed is not always easy. Faith Circle at Durham Alliance Outreach (DAO) offers a welcoming place to explore spirituality, connect with others, and take part in affirming conversation.

Faith Circle began at DAO in September 2025 as a monthly gathering for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies. The program creates space for reflection, fellowship, discussion, and community without asking anyone to leave part of themselves at the door.

What is Faith Circle?

Faith Circle is an inclusive spiritual gathering hosted by Durham Alliance Outreach. Participants may come from a faith tradition, have stepped away from organized religion, be exploring spirituality for the first time, or simply want to connect with others in an affirming environment.

Gatherings may include open conversation, reflection, films, guest speakers, themed discussions, devotional elements, or other opportunities to explore faith and spirituality together.

A space for connection and exploration

Many 2SLGBTQIA+ people have experienced exclusion or harm in religious settings. Faith Circle is intended to offer a different experience: one grounded in welcome, dignity, curiosity, and respect.

Our goal is to create a community where:

• Everyone is welcome. People can participate regardless of background, identity, belief, or where they are on their spiritual journey.
• Identity and spirituality can coexist. Participants are welcomed as their whole selves.
• Questions are welcome. Faith Circle is a place for exploration and conversation, not pressure.
• Community matters. Connection with others can help create a sense of belonging and mutual support.

When and where

Faith Circle meets on the last Sunday of each month from 2:00–4:00 PM at Durham Alliance Outreach / Club 717, 717 Wilson Road South, Unit 7, Oshawa.
